Verse

Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Highlights

  • Our Classes:
           1. KIDS KINGDOM for Pre-K to Grade 6: Kid’s Kingdom is the Sunday School program for children from age 3 through the 6th grade.  The Pre K and Kindergarten children meet each week to begin their formal Christian education by learning from an urban based curriculum and hands on activities. Children in the 1st through 6th grades participate in an interactive rotational program each Sunday that allows the children to review the same Biblical concept in 5 week units. The Kids Kingdom section of Church School is the best way to start connecting children to God in a practical and participatory way.  Each week, the children rotate among 1 of 4 centers: art, video, computers and cooking. On the last week of the 5 week unit, the children participate in a unit review. Classes are held each Sunday from 9:45 am - 10:45 am.

            2. YOUTH CHURCH SCHOOL for grades 7 and 8, the Confirmation Class, and the High School:
a . Students in grades 7 and 8 study a well structured curriculum appropriate to their age, that emphasizes and deepens the  learning received in the Kids Kingdom section while at the same time prepares them for the next level of experience in high school..
               b. The confirmation class is the "rites of passage" to Christian life.  This section is designed to take the youth through the challenging transition to adult Christian life.  The confirmation class is a well-designed curriculum with Teaching Plans for 39 sessions --39 weeks--at the end of which the young people are accepted by the entire congregation as members with a deep knowledge of God's teaching.
               c. The High School class -Grades 9-12- reinforces the study from grades 7 and 8.  In addition to the structured curriculum geared towards the Word of God, the students undergo a thematic curriculum that teaches how to use God teaching in practical ways in their day-today lives.  The themes related to youth issues are suggested, debated, prioritized and finally selected by the students themselves under the guidance of their teachers.  Discussions are carried on in strict confidentiality.  College preparation is a great part of the high school curriculum.

             3. COLLEGE STUDENTS AND RECENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES - This Church School Class is designed for college students and recent high school graduates on school break.  The summer session of this class covers 8 weeks. Under the guidance of their class leader, the students share their stories and the challeges of school life in various colleges they attend or the challenges of life after high school.  At the same time, they hear other people's struggles and praise reports, all in perfect confidentiality.
