Rev. John Macklin is a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He is the father of three children: one daughter Andrea Tribitt and two sons, Jonathan and Joseph Macklin. He also has three grandchildren. Rev. Macklin enjoys bowling, singing and reading his Bible. In 1985 he was voted the “Best Gospel Amateur Male Artist” in Kansas City, Missouri.
Rev. Macklin attended Charles Harrison Mason Bible College. He was ordained in the Kansas East Jurisdiction as an Elder in 1977 for the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Rev. Macklin attended Lincoln University where he pledged the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He later graduated from Penn Valley with an Associate Art degree in social work. He continued his education at Park College.
He has been in the ministry for over thirty years. He started as an Assistant Pastor at Emmanuel Temple of COGIC. He was assigned to Quindaro COGIC as the Pastor and later founded New Beginning Ministries. In 1985, he went to Guyana to minister a 10-day revival with the Assembly of God Church. He was appointed to St. James July 2, 2006. He presently serves as Pastor of Warren St. UMC, a historically African-American UMC in Warrensburg, Missouri.
His mission is to win souls for Christ and to lead people in praise and worship. His favorite bible verse is “God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:17)
