SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mother's Day. This year, we again honor our mothers with a photo montage during the Sunday, May 11th worship service. To recognize the mothers in your life, please submit photographs of these wonderful women by Monday, May 5th. Be sure to include the names of persons in the photo and their relationship (i.e. Jane Smith: mother of Jill Smith, grandmother of Joe Smith). Digital images are preferred and can be emailed to ncollins@stjamesumc.com. If you submit an original photo, please make sure your name and contact information are included with the photo to ensure prompt return.
NOTE: Photos submitted last year will be included this year unless a request is made to update or remove a photo.
Attention 2008 High School Seniors.Graduating from high school is the next success milestone of your life. For your accomplishments, your church family would like to honor you. So that we may effectively honor you, we are requesting that you provide a short bio of yourself including a digital picture by Sunday, May 25th. CHILDREN
Acolyte Parent Meeting. Attention Parents of current and potential acolytes, light celebrants and rail cleaners. There is a Parent Meeting and training Saturday, May 17th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the sanctuary. It's a time to meet the new acolyte coordinators and learn more about this ministry. "Mr. Bill” Scholarship. Applications for the 2008 “Mr. Bill” Scholarship (in amounts up to $1,000) are available in the Newton Lounge and Narthex. Applications are also available for book scholarships (amount of $200.00) for college students who received the “Mr. Bill” Scholarship in 2007, 2006 or 2005. The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, May 25th.
Youth Usher Parent Meeting. The parents of all youth ushers are asked to attend a special meeting Saturday, May 17th at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A continental breakfast will be served.

Bible Study. Join us each Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Ministry Mall for life changing bible study. If you are ready to walk into God's will for your life, don’t miss this. Refreshments are available
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
Women's Day Offering. For those women who were not able to give $40.00, or whatever they could afford, for Women's Day last Sunday, it is not too late to do so. Please place your offering in a church envelope, designate it for "Women's Day," and place it in the offering plate. Reading Literacy Circle. The next meeting of this Circle is Thursday, May 22nd at 5:15 p.m. here at St. James. All future meetings will be held every fourth Sunday unless otherwise notified.) We hope to see you there! Unit Meeting. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 17, 2008, for the next UMW meeting to be held immediately following the 8:00 a.m. Worship Service in Fellowship Hall. All women are invited to attend.

St. James Golf Tournament. The 12th Annual St. James United Methodist Men’s Church Golf Tournament is Saturday, May 31st at the Swope Memorial Golf Course. CHURCH SCHOOL
Celebration of “Church School Month in May”. Activities will be carried out throughout the month. A detailed program will soon be published.
Worlds of Fun. Kid's Kingdom is celebrating the end of a successful school year and the beginning of summer! Please join us for a day at Worlds of Fun Saturday, May 31st. All children ages 5 - 12 and parents are welcome. The cost is $10 per person which includes transportation, park admittance and lunch. Please contact Tammy Edwards or Ellen Samuel to reserve your spot. Seats are limited!
ANGEL FOOD MINISTRY
Angel Food Distribution. The main purpose of Angel Food Ministries is to reach out to people who may not have interaction with Christians and show them Christian love at work. You can minister to anyone with a smile and an outpouring of love. Come love on someone. Invite them to worship with us Wednesday or Sunday. Everyone should see what we have to offer. No one is too old or too young; our youngest volunteer is 4 years old! We are only asking for one Saturday a month.
Our remaining distribution dates for 2008 are: May 17th, June 21st, July 19th, August 23rd, September 20th, October 18th, November 22nd and December 20. We are trying desperately to increase the number of people we serve, but it is difficult with out more support. Please look at your schedule to see when you can help with Distribution Saturdays. What days can we count on you?
TROOST SCHOOL MISSION
Bless the School. We are committed to repair and paint the interior of Troost Elementary School with the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Please stay tuned as we will be signing you up to work a shift. The restoration will take place Saturdays, June 14th and 28th. Adults and youth can serve. You must be 12 years old and serve with an adult. We are looking for skilled workers and those willing to learn to:
§ prepare walls for painting § caulk § use a paint sprayer § replace ceramic tile § prepare concrete for painting § use scaffolding § apply baseboards
CHURCH BOWLING LEAGUE
Summer League Forming! Get everything in order to free-up your Tuesday evenings this summer to join the St. James UMC summer bowling league. Everyone is invited to join us at Premier Bowling Lanes (11400 E 350 Hwy) for a FREE bowling party May 13th at 6:30 p.m. League bowling begins May 20th at 6:30 p.m. Contact “Mr. Bill” Johnson at 816-941-9215 to reserve a place for your team or if you have questions. This is the year for your church ministry/committee to have a team. Join us in our summer bowling of fun and fellowship.
